SStudio
A small studio with a point of view.
OFFSET is an independent design studio for brand identity, digital experiences and art direction. We are small on purpose: senior people on every project, a few projects at a time, and work that is made to last.
Fewer projects. More attention.
01What we believe
Four working principles.
01
Say what we think.
You hire a studio for its judgement. We give clear recommendations, explain the reasoning, and tell you when something isn’t working, including our own ideas.
02
One idea, carried all the way.
The strongest work usually rests on a single, well-chosen idea. We would rather develop one thought properly than present ten half-finished ones.
03
Show it early, show it real.
Ideas are judged on real applications at real sizes: a label on a jar, a page on a phone, a poster across the street. Moodboards only go so far.
04
Build things people can keep using.
Good work outlives the launch. We hand over systems, files and guidance your team can use confidently long after the project ends.
02Working together
What it’s like to work with us.
Senior people, start to finish
The people you meet at the first conversation are the people who design, review and deliver your project.
A few projects at a time
We keep the number of active projects small on purpose, so each one gets proper attention and nobody is waiting on a queue.
Trusted collaborators
For photography, film, illustration or specialist development we bring in independent collaborators we know well, and we stay accountable for the result.
Plain language
Briefs, proposals and feedback are written so everyone involved can understand them, whether or not they work in design.
03How we work
Four steps. No mystery.
01
Listen and define
We spend the first weeks asking questions, reading everything you have and writing a short brief in plain language. Nothing visual happens until we agree on what the work needs to do.
02
Find the visual idea
We explore a few honest routes, then commit to one idea that answers the brief. You see it applied to real things early, not just on a moodboard.
03
Make and refine
The idea becomes a working system: type, colour, layouts, screens, packaging or film. We test it, show it to the people who will use it and tighten it until it holds.
04
Ship with care
We prepare files, guidelines and builds properly, then stay close through launch. Your team should be able to carry the work forward without us.
How does a project usually start?
With a conversation. Tell us what you are building and what prompted it, and we will ask a few questions about audience, timing and constraints. Afterwards we send back a short written brief and a proposal, so we can agree on the problem before any design begins.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on scope. As a rough guide, a focused identity often takes eight to twelve weeks, and a website or digital product usually takes longer. These are typical ranges, not guarantees: we agree a realistic plan for your project before we start and keep it updated as we go.
Do you work with people outside your city?
Yes. Most of our collaboration happens through calls, shared files and regular reviews, so we can work with teams in different places and time zones. Where a project benefits from it, such as a shoot or a workshop, we are happy to plan time together in person.
What do you need from us?
Time with the people who make decisions, honest feedback at each review, and content when it is due. We will tell you early what we need and when, and agree one main point of contact on your side so feedback stays clear.
How many rounds of feedback are included?
Rather than counting rounds, we plan reviews at the end of each phase. Each review has a clear purpose and a decision to make. If the work needs to change direction, we discuss what that means for time and budget before going further.
